Heiligenstein is the director of Mobility Authority in Texas. The Mobility Authority was created in the year 2002 to design a modern Transportation Authority in Texas. Central Texas is a growing region, and the mobility authority was set up to enhance the transportation needs in the region. Since the inception of the Mobility Authority, Mike has been there. During its first project of the transition to an electronic cashless toll station, Mike was still in the company. Mobility Authority is partnering with other entities to develop six other pathways in Texas.

 

Mike is the president of International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike Association. He serves as part of the advisory board of Texas A & M Transportation Institute. He serves on other transportation boards as well. He has served as the public official in Williamson County for twenty years before getting into mobility authority. The main motive of the mobility authority lies in innovation. Recently, they have completed the Mopac project which helps in the management of traffic flow.

 

Traffic Solution for Williamson County

 

Williamson County has had traffic issues in the recent past. The panel discussion board of the Mobility Authority held a talk looking for the way forward in addressing the traffic issues. The discussion looked into how technology is changing the perception of traffic in Austin Region and worldwide. Heiligenstein proposed that new technologies such as the driverless cars and ride sharing application could radically transform the traffic system. However, there is the need to invest in the upgrading of the existing transport network if any solution is to be achieved. Williamson County has built good roads and planned the infrastructure of Texas, but due to the increasing population, there is need to improve the roads and improve the transport capacity of the various roads. The corridors in Williamson County need to be expanded and made more efficient and smarter through the use of technology.

 

McGraw responded to the question inquiring what the policy makers need to do to prepare for the transportation needs of the future. He said that building and land-use codes ought to remain flexible. Ficklin emphasized the need for parking spaces and garages. The building code for the garage in the future will be distinct from the present one. The garage will have to fit several layers of cars hence totally different from many garages that are present in the buildings. The traffic solution for Williamson County lies in fully embracing the existing technology and making it possible to advance and meet the population needs.
